A small tornado hit the grounds of Russell Saturday afternoon.
"It only lasted for a few minutes" says Natalie Hasell who is a warning preparedness meteorologist with Environment Canada.
Hasell says there is a difference between a landspout tornado and a regular tornado.
"Landspouts are still rotating columns of air. They look like those other tornadoes but the conditions in which they develop typically lead to something that is not going to cause a whole lot of damage."
There were no reports of damage.
"I would still seek shelter or at least still get away from wherever that thing is happening even though it is not going to last very long." says Hasell.
Landspouts suck up dust.
