An upcoming fundraiser in Dauphin will support four initiatives related to a young boy who passed away earlier this year.

The Dane Kaleta Memorial fundraiser is the third annual Ronald McDonald House fundraiser in Dauphin.

Curtis Kaleta says this year's event will benefit the Parkland Crossing Playroom, the Barker School Playground FUNdraiser, and the Kinsmen Aquatic Center Waterslide Fund, as well as Ronald McDonald House.

He says the goal is to raise $12,000 this year, and he thinks they'll make it.

"With the amount of community support we've had... and just the people who keep stopping and asking me if we're doing it again. And that's more of why we decided to do it this year is because there has been so many people asking us if we're doing it again."

The Kaletas started the fundraiser in 2014 as a way to pay it forward to Ronald McDonald House, after staying at the Winnipeg facility while their son Dane underwent surgery.

The barbeque runs this Friday at the Dauphin Clinic Pharmacy. Kaleta says it will happen rain or shine.
