The Community of Gilbert Plains is celebrating EMS Week, by having various events hosted by people who work in the EMS Station.
Gilbert plains EMS captain, Janelle McIvor says the week kicks off today with an event in place.
"We are actually going to our three seniors residences and doing blood pressure, updating their [Emergency Response Information Kits] their personal medical information and talking about life line. And we are also going to be doing this in the EMS Station this afternoon opened to the public as well."
McIvor says she got the idea from other small communities in the region.
"They get out to the elderly and they get out to the schools, just kind of promoting the ambulance and why we are here. So we want to show the community that we are here and that we are around for support and that we are a good access."
Tomorrow they will have a meet and greet BBQ from 11am to 2pm at the EMS staion, and on Thursday, there will be a Teddy Bear Clinic and picnic at the EMS Station with students from GP Elementary School.
EMS week goes on until the 27th.
