In an effort to help raise money for Fort McMurray the Parkway Co-op and Grandview Credit Union partnered up to do a bbq fundraiser yesterday.
Jim Winfield, Store manager for parkway co-op in Grandview says it was a successful day.
"We had a fantastic turnout yesterday, the support from the community was unbelievable and we were able to send the Red Cross $2,265 which was amazing."
Winfield says it was their community duty to help those affected as much as they can.
"There's a lot of ties in Grandview with not just the oil business, but Fort McMurray in particular. Some of our own that have moved out there and still live in that area and are in that business, so we sort of felt obligated and to have that type of a turnout and that type of response was overwhelming."
The most recent tally for donations to the Canadian Red Cross for Fort McMurray relief was $67 million.
