The Dauphin Air Cadets are getting ready for their annual parade and ceremonial review.
The squadron will march through Rotary Arena on May 29, and accomplished members will receive awards.
Captain Earl Pryce says it means a lot for him to be part of the parade.
"It's a very rewarding experience. Great to work with the young people. You know, to see their accomplishments and improvements over the year. It's a good [wrap up] to the year."
Pryce says it is not only an important event for the cadets, but for the community as well.
"It's a good way to recognize the cadets that have excelled in their peer groups. It's a good opportunity to see the young people. The community contributes to the program quite a bit as well, so it's good to see where their efforts are going."
We talked to Pryce on Friday, and he said the Dauphin Air Cadets will be donating $10,000 to the Red Cross' efforts in Fort McMurray.
The funds were raised over the course of several events over the last year, and he says some of the money was going to be used for a separate awards and banquet night on top of the parade.
Pryce says the entire squadron believed it would be better to send the money to the fire-ravaged city instead.
"It's just a good thing to do, I guess. I don't know how many, about 2,500 or so houses burned down, and people thought that would be a better use of the money than an end-of-the-year awards and banquet night."
The parade will take place at 3 pm on May 29 at the Rotary Arena.
