Canada Road Safety Week is underway which all about raising awareness about proper driving behaviours. 
 
In conjunction with this week, RoadWatch-  which is , an impaired-driving initiative sponsored by Manitoba Public Insurance- kicks off this May long weekend and continues into November.
 
Media Relations Coordinator for MPI, Brian Smiley says this year a total of nine police agencies will be participating..
 
"There will be road side checks where vehicles will be pulled over by various participating law enforcement agencies whether it be RCMP, Winnipeg Police, or Brandon Police."
 
 On average, 25 people are killed each year on Manitoba roads in impaired driving collisions.
 
With road safety at the forefront, the launch of this year's RoadWatch aligns with Canada Road Safety Week, that runs until May 23rd.
