If you have been considering adopting a pet, this weekend is a prime opportunity to do so.

The Parkland Humane Society is hosting an Adoption event this Saturday from noon to 3 at Pet Valu.

Office Administrator Jenn Langlois says they will be bringing over a few puppies, with hopes of finding them forever homes.

"Heidi, Frankie, Benji, as well as maybe bringing one of our older girls Rosie.  She is 5 years old and just came back to the shelter.  She is an amazing dog.  It allows people to meet as many animals as they can at one time.  It also allows people to see the character of the puppies more than just the picture or their description and see how they act in a new environment and that they are truly magnificent animals to own."

Langlois adds there are some factors you should consider if you are thinking of adopting a cat or dog.

"People should consider their home life.  If you are having a baby soon, is introducing a pet at the same time a good idea? Do you have a fenced-in yard? Are you able to walk a dog?  All of these things as well as being able to provide food and shelter and all of that for them.  And just to be able to raise them how they are meant to be cared for."

The cost to adopt a puppy is $400, which includes all of their shots, as well as spaying or neutering.

Adult dogs are $330 to adopt, while adult cats are $100, and $ 150 for kittens, which will also have all of their shots and will be spayed or neutered.

There will also be a fundraising component to the event, where you can make a donation and help the Humane Society "Fill the Clover".
