With seeding season upon us, lots of motorists will have to share the road with farmers and their equipment as they move from field to field.
Jeff Shaw, prevention consultant with Safe Work Manitoba says the most important safety rule for motorist to follow is to be patient if you end up having to travel behind tractors and air seeders as they take up a lot of space and are traveling at reduced speeds.
"So when approaching farm equipment slow down, keep your distance, watch for turn signals especially left turn signals, and I can't emphasize enough to be very patient. Farm equipment is often only travelling short distances to the next field."
Shaw also adds that for the equipment operators to ensure that equipment has proper lighting, signage and markings when in transport mode.
