Manitoba Hydro customers who receive their monthly bills by mail can expect an automated phone call or text message from the crown corporation when their next bill has been issued.
The move, which has been precipitated by the current work stoppage at Canada Post, will also provide details on how the customer can check their account balance.
Manitoba Hydro reminds customers that they never request payments over the phone, and they never request or accept credit card, e-transfer, or cryptocurrency payments over the phone/
They say anyone that requests these types of payments, or who threatens to disconnect service if immediate payment is not made is a scammer.
They also caution to never give any personal banking or credit card info over the phone.
Customers can also find out their balance by calling the customer service centre at 1-888-MB HYDRO, or by setting up- an online account at hydro.mb.ca/signup
