Let the Games begin!
The 2024 Manitoba Summer Games, Powered by Manitoba Hydro, are officially in session. An incredible crowd packed into Credit Union Place on Sunday night as the Opening Ceremonies took place, officially beginning a week to remember in Dauphin and the area.
Teams competeting this week are Team North, Team East, Winnipeg Gold, Winnipeg Blue, and Team South. Then Team West entered the building and the crowd erupted as Team West includes more than 60 athletes from the Parkland region.
The competition will now begin Monday morning. Credit Union Place will host the volleyball event until Wednesday. The Closing Ceremonies will then be next Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Credit Union Place.
Phase 1 will include volleyball, baseball at Vermillion Sportsplex, male basketball at the Dauphin Curling Club, cycling at Northgate Trails, golf at the Gilbert Plains Country Club, female soccer at Vermillion Sportsplex, and swimming at the Kinsmen Aquatic Centre.
Phase 2 will then begin Thursday and it will include Athletics at the DRCSS track, female basketball at the Dauphin Curling Club, rugby at KIN Field, male soccer at Vermillion Sportsplex, softball at Vermillion Sportsplex, and the triathlon in Clear Lake. Sailing will also be during Phase 2 at Manipogo Provincial Park.
