Keystone Agriculture Producers are wanting all political parties to support young farmers a priority in this election.
A recent poll that KAP did says 82% of Manitobans want to see government do more to assist young farmers, as farming is becoming expensive and hard to maintain. Whether that be looking into making better programs to manage risk, innovative programs that encourage, support and assist young farmers so they can continue the agriculture tradition.
Progressive Conservative candidate for Dauphin, Brad Michaleski says his party is doing reviews for money value in all the agriculture department, creating agricultural policies from scientific data, and working towards lowering taxation that should help.
"These things they work towards lowering taxation and the PST. All that combined creates an environment for competition which is what the farm or businesses need just like everywhere else, and they need a competitive environment so they can succeed and grow. It may not be direct, but a lot of things combined can improve the conditions for agriculture and the young people that want to enter it."
The PCs are proposing a $1 billion dollar strategic infrastructure fund.
Manitobans go to the polls April 19th.
