Five people are facing drug trafficking-related charges following a joint investigation by The Pas RCMP and The Pas Correctional Centre.
Police say The Pas RCMP found cocaine and marijuana as part of a contraband package they believe was bound for The Pas Correctional Centre during a vehicle stop on December 16 last year.
The two occupants of the vehicle, 20-year-old Lloyd Bird of The Pas and 20-year-old Shelaine Constant of Opaskwayak, were arrested. Police say investigation has led them to arrest 18-year-old Haley Burli and 20-year-old William Burli of The Pas, and 22-year-old Skylar Constant of Opaskwayak. Police say William Burli and Skylar Constant were inmates of The Pas Correctional Centre when the alleged offence took place.
Lloyd Bird and Shelaine Constant are charged with two counts of Possessing a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.
Haley Burli is charged with two counts of Trafficking a Controlled Substance.
Skylar Constant and William Burli have been charged as parties to the offence with two counts of Trafficking a Controlled Substance and two counts of Possessing a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.
William Burli and Skylar Constant remain in custody, while the others have been released. They are all scheduled to appear in The Pas Provincial Court on April 13.
