The Dauphin and District Chamber of Commerce wants to know if local businesses would benefit from heavy truck traffic through Riding Mountain National Park.
Joanne Vandepoele, vice-president of the chamber, says they are asking members for input on what business is being lost or what opportunities are being missed.
"We are collecting that information in order to create a position that the Chamber either is supportive or non-supportive of that initiative. You know, the talk is that there should be truck traffic but we need to know if our business community would support that or not."
Riding Mountain National Park Superintendent Michaela Kent says Parks Canada will work with stakeholders and businesses in Dauphin and other communities to explore using occasional permits to allow necessary heavy truck traffic through the park.
The Dauphin Chamber is asking for input on this issue by March 30.
