Who says people from small towns can not be outstanding?
A 21 year old from Gilbert Plains has been named one of Brandon University's Outstanding Women of 2016!
Andrea Grove, a physiotherapy student majoring in psychology, was nominated after she wrote a paper on psychopaths that blew her professor away.
But Grove said it was quite a surprise when she heard she was being given the recognition.
"It feels like it can't be happening. I really didn't expect to get the nomination, and it's quite amazing."
She says she had always been interested in psychology, so her major fit for a couple reasons.
"I like to try and understand people. I find [people] so interesting. I also needed my psychology major to get into physiotherapy. A lot of the courses were needed, so everything kind of just worked wonderfully."
Grove is currently working towards a masters degree in physiotherapy, and might go for a PhD afterwards.
Upon graduating, she plans to move back to the Parkland to work as a physiotherapist, and maybe get her own practice down the line.
