The Reeve of the RM of Dauphin says due diligence was done and they chose the best water for the lowest cost in opting to supply Keld area residents with water from the G3 Co-op rather than the City of Dauphin.
Reeve Dennis Forbes says the RM has a water sale agreement with the city, and also negotiated one with G3.
"Looking at both options, like when you make a purchase on anything, you weigh both scenarios, and we decided that coming from G3 was the most opportune scenario in regards to servicing the area known as Keld."
A letter sent by the City expressing its disappointment and surprise over not being consulted was discussed at yesterday's RM council meeting.
Forbes says he thought it had been understood for several years water would be brought from the west for the Keld area.
Council yesterday cited lower cost and less uphill water movement as reasons for choosing G3.
