Dauphin Rec Services is looking to get kids signed up for the Jumpstart program!
The program gives financially-disadvantaged kids money so they can be part of sports without having to worry about the cost.
Program Coordinator Tamara Kolida says it is important to make sure all kids are able to play sports if they want.
"All these kids, maybe they wouldn't be able to participate in the sports they love. So, if we're helping over 100 kids in the Parkland do something that they love, I mean, it's an awesome program. You can't really argue those numbers."
Kolida says hockey is the most common sport to receive Jumpstart funding, but it is by far not the only one.
"A huge chuck of our funding actually goes to people participating in gymnastics and Ukrainian dance, so we do cover those sports."
Kids aged 4-18 can get signed up for Jumpstart at the Dauphin Rec Services office by June 1st.
They can also receive funding for multiple sports throughout the year.
