Gilbert Plains' boosted hemp processing plant brought a lot of excitement to the town for what it will do to the local economy, but few thought it would bring big national media.
Still Standing is a CBC program that highlights small Canadian towns whose populations have declined, but have new reasons to be hopeful for the future.
They are looking to highlight the town's hemp processing industry, which recently received funding for big upgrades and new capabilities.
Reeve Blake Price says the show could mean big things for the town.
"Well, this is certainly going to be a boost. Like we said, it'll put Gilbert Plains on the map as one one the biggest hemp processors in Western Canada. It will make Gilbert Plains a different community, I would suspect."
Price says CBC is also looking for locals to possibly be interviewed for the show. Anyone from hemp farmers to business experts, or even just people with interesting stories about the town's history, can put their name in the hat by contacting the Gilbert Plains municipal office.
