The president of the Dauphin Fish and Wildlife Association says tomorrow's regional meeting for the Manitoba Wildlife Federation will have a lot of information about what's being done locally to prevent spotlighting and also help declining moose and elk populations in Manitoba.

Brad Watkins says they're looking to get more hunters and anglers to join the Wildlife Federation who are concerned about the big game crisis.

"Basically we're trying to rally all hunters to get the province to better manage our big game animals and the habitat... We need more surveys to know exactly what's being taken and where, and when populations get low, what we need to do with them to build them back up."

Watkins says the meeting will also discuss the lack of wildlife enforcement officers in the province.

"It's a very big job for the guys and women that do that, so we'd like to see more officers out there to patrol and be on the lookout for spotlighting and illegal hunting."

Tomorrow's meeting starts at 10am at the Watson Art Centre.
