A thin ice advisory has been issued for Southern Manitoba, which includes the Parkland region.
Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation says, due to warm winter weather, ice on much of the Parkland's lakes and rivers are not safe for recreational activities.

Executive Director Steve Topping says to wait until temperatures get a little lower before you go out, and ask someone who knows when the ice would be safe.
"Ice fishermen are often one of the best sources of what the thickness of the ice is, and safety. I would suggest that you exercise caution until we get into the much colder minus 15-minus 20 degree weather sustained temperatures."
Topping says the advisory is expected be in effect for the duration of the holidays.
