Campaigning is bound to kick up a notch some time in the new year, with a provincial election slated for April.

Dauphin's Conservative candidate Brad Michaleski says he's been meeting people and being seen since his nomination. He says the real campaign probably won't get going until the beginning of January some time.

"It's going to be very much the same course: just getting out and meeting people. And our platform is slowly rolling out, and of course some of that is going to be coming out in the press and in the media, so, you know, there's going to be some talking points," says Michaleski.

NDP candidate Darcy Scheller says her campaign hasn't slowed down in December and the plan in January is to continue getting out into communities.

"I've already spoken with folks from Laurier and Sifton and Dauphin, but in the new year I want to focus on Roblin, Gilbert, Grandview, and of course, Ste. Rose," says Scheller.

And Green Party candidate Kate Storey, who ran in the federal election and has run provincially before, also says her campaign will ramp up in January.

"I run in elections because I care about our community. We want jobs for our kids," says Storey.

The Liberals have not yet named a candidate for the Dauphin constituency.
