The Dauphin and District Chamber of Commerce says Dauphinites were doing more holiday shopping locally this year.
This year, the Chamber put a bigger focus on social media to help get the word out about holiday shopping events like Moonlight Madness and Christmas Quest.
Chamber Executive Director Stephen Chychota says the hashtag, "Shop Dauphin", made it easier to let shoppers know about local deals.
"I think that plays a huge factor in it, because it engaged with the people that, maybe they don't know exactly what's going on in the stores or what they have to offer. It was a way we can, using the hashtag, pool the information."
Chychota says many local stores saw increased sales during the holiday shopping events.
