Thousands of soldiers retire from the Canadian military every year, and one organization is looking to give them a second career in something many in the Parkland know well.

Operation Ag Careers wants to connect those retiring from the military with careers in all sectors of agriculture.

It’s being organized by the Canadian Association of Agri-Retailers, and President and CEO Delaney Ross Burtnack believes many in the military understand the culture and dedication needed for farming.

"We are very much an industry of passionate people who find it a calling in terms of working in this sector. It's deep in family history and individuals in the military understand that, and I think understanding what it's like working in this sector, it brings a different meaning to it."

Farmers will be able to seek out retiring military personnel starting sometime in January. CAAR will be launching a national jobs board for all sectors of agriculture at caar.org.
