The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba is investigating what happened during an arrest in Swan River that resulted in a suspect needing to be hospitalized for internal injuries.
RCMP went to a residence in Swan River to arrest a male on December 1. According to an IIU release, police used force to restrain and control the person, resulting in the injuries.
The suspect was taken to the Dauphin Regional Health Centre for treatment and observation. No officers were hurt.
The IIU's investigation will focus on the circumstances surrounding the conduct of the RCMP officers with the individual.
