RCMP are investigating allegations of potentially threatening phone calls made over an effort to bring in refugee families from Syria to Dauphin.
A press release from the Dauphin First United Church says around 1 yesterday afternoon an unidentified caller made it clear they were against the church's involvement in the initiative and then made a perceived threat at the church.
The same press release says a call was received at the Dauphin and District Food Bank around 3:30 yesterday, in which a caller is alleged to have asked for information on an individual before making a perceived threat at them for their involvement in the refugee initiative.
The Dauphin First United, First Baptist, and St Viator's churches announced recently they were looking for community support in sponsoring three to four refugee families from Syria.
