An emergency preparedness meteorologist with Environment Canada says it's important to again get familiarized with precautions that need to be taken for travelling in wintertime.
Natalie Hasell says reduced visibility and blowing snow will be the main issues for the Dauphin area with the system working its way through Manitoba.
"Road conditions are going to be difficult so have an emergency kit in your car. Have snow tires. Please consider them if you haven't gotten them already. And have everything in place: charge your phone, make sure all the fluids in your car are topped up."
Wind gusts of up to 70 kilometres an hour and snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 centimetres are forecast for the Dauphin, Roblin and Winnipegosis area.
In the southwest of Manitoba, wind gusts could get up to 90 kilometres an hour and a wind advisory has been issued by Environment Canada.
