New provincial regulations to remove customer service barriers for people with disabilities will come info effect on November 1.
The new standard requires all Manitoba organizations with one or more employees to establish policies that identify barriers to accessible customer service and seek to either remove them or find alternatives to help customers with disabilities.
Family Services Minister Kerri Irvin-Ross says in a statement that "accessing good and services is something most of us take for granted, but it can present challenges for the two hundred thousand Manitobans who are disabled by barriers."
Government organizations have one year to meet the new standard, public sector bodies have two years, while private and non-profit organizations have three years.
