A comedy show at the Knights Hall on Saturday night will serve as a fundraiser for the Parkland Humane Society.

Society president Jill Forbes says all the money raised from the "Raise the Woof" event will go towards their operating and maintenance costs.

Forbes says the planning for the show has been going on for a couple of years.

"They actually contacted us a couple of years ago to see if we would be interested. Raise the Woof, what they do is they go across Canada and the U.S. and contact different shelters and help them raise money with their comedy show. The board of directors thought this year we would give it a try, and so far it looks like it's going to be a really good time."

Forbes says there won't be any speeches taking place at the fundraiser, instead the focus will all be on the lineup of entertainers scheduled for the evening.

"The Raise the Woof are bringing three comedians, and I believe they're all Canadians. Then we also have after the comedy show, we're going to have a local band called the Danny Hu taking the stage to perform for the remainder of our evening"

Advance tickets can be purchased for $20 at the Dauphin Vet Clinic, Uptown Pet Clinic, Pet Valu and the Parkland Humane Society.

Tickets at the door will cost $25.
