A nurse practitioner and a visiting doctor are in the works for Winnipegosis, according to Ron Kostyshyn, NDP candidate and incumbent for the Swan River riding.
Kostyshyn says the process for the nurse practitioner started a month and a half ago and they're hoping to finalize things soon.
"We're just in the final stages of solidifying the opportunity to have a nurse practitioner and secondly working on a physician to come into the community one day or two days a week in the future."
Kostyshyn was at a town hall meeting at Winnipegosis' New Horizons yesterday.
The PCs have made a few health care announcements during the election campaign, including a 50 per cent reduction in ambulance fees, a plan to establish a wait time task force, and a plan for more doctor recruitment and retention.
