For it's first year, it sure was a success.
The Winnipegosis Skating Club brought in the CanSkate program for the first time this skating season and parents and kids were excited about that.
Leon Bergen, resident of Winnipegosis says he was excited to find out that they were offering it so he could enroll his son in it.
"When they announced that they were doing CanSkate it was even more exciting because in past years they had only done figure skating, so it's kind of a different thing. And it was great for the boys because they would more interested in that program."
They did have a year end carnival this past weekend where 19 out of their 32 skaters showcased what they had learned throughout this skating season.
Chair person for the skating club, Cheri Paskal says the carnival was a success and was overwhelmed by all the community support.
"When we had community members and businesses just jumped in to a lend a hand, you know and they didnt even have children in the CanSkate program, I was really overwhelmed. It was awesome."
Paskal says the club plans to offer more programs next skating season. They are thinking of bringing in Can Power Skate and StarSkate.
