One lucky Grade 8 student could soon be on their way to the Youth Leadership Summit in London, Ontario.

The Summit is a two day event in May, designed to teach exceptional youth about their potential.

Mountain View School Division Superintendent Donna Davidson says the kids will learn valuable skills to help them excel as they enter adulthood.

"What topics would be all around leadership, all around communication skills. It would be about building teamwork, it would be about looking at you as a leader or you as an individual, and what skills you have that you could bring to a leadership role."

Grade 8 students can apply to be part of the Youth Leadership Summit at their school's office.

Only about 300 students from across the country will be able to attend the event, which runs May 24-26.
