Portage la Prairie R-C-M-P received word Saturday that barricades were in the eastbound lane of Highway 1 at Highway 13, indicating that the highway was closed.

Police say numerous barricades and pylons had been moved from a construction zone in the westbound lane and placed in the eastbound lane.

Police say it could have caused a fatal crash, and they're still investigating the incident.
