It was a winning weekend for the Grand Plains U-9 Hazlewood Hawks.
Playing in Russell, it was an undefeated weekend for the group who went coast-to-coast to win the A-side championship and bring a banner back to Gilbert Plains.
In the final, the Hawks downed the Team Jones from Russell, 6-5. It was a thrilling back-and-forth game that came down to the wire. Grand Plains also beat Birtle, Swan Valley, and Russell VanDamme.
The U-9 McDonald Hawks also competed in the tournament and ended with a title win. They beat Russell VanDamme in an outstanding game that needed overtime to decide the winner.
