The Parkland U-18 Rangers have been struggling as of late and needed a big weekend in Thompson.

With one more game to go, it got off to a great start on Saturday. The Rangers went 8-for-8 on the penalty kill, outshot the Norman Northstars, 43-29, and locked up a key two points in a 5-2 victory. The Rangers blew the game wide open with three goals in the second period.

Piet Mierau was rock solid with 27 saves while five different Rangers scored. Noah Smigelsky, Alex Campbell, Landyn Garton, Cade Legaarden, and Benjamin Poole all scored a goal apiece. The victory moved Parkland into seventh place and they're now just three points back of the Winnipeg Thrashers.

Norman and Parkland will play again on Sunday afternoon.
