It wasn't the ending the Parkland U-18 Rangers were hoping for but it was a big point none the less.
Ethan Saari scored the game winner for the Winnipeg Thrashers as they downed the Parkland Rangers, 4-3, in a great back and forth battle between the two clubs. Parkland trailed 3-2 late in the second before Benjamin Poole scored a goal that he will never forget.
It was his first goal as a Ranger and the goal late in the second tied the game at three and after no goals were scored in the third, Parkland earned a point. Liam Chartrand (4) and Quinten Fisk (23) also scored for the Rangers in the overtime defeat.
Piet Mierau had another outstanding game between the pipes as he made 37 saves as the Rangers will head to Teulon to play Interlake on Sunday. Parkland is in seventh place and they're a point ahead of Interlake in the standings.
