The Dauphin Clipper girls are looking to be competitive at this weekend's Rural High School Soccer Provincials in Steinbach.

It's the fourth straight season the Clippers have advanced to the event. But as is the case every year Dauphin hasn't seen much of their competition.

Head Coach David Bykal says provincials is just another step on the ladder of goals...

"The first goal that we have is making it there and we just wanna try and be competitive. Every year we go we go in with the goal of trying to win a game. If we play our best and we don't that's the way it is. As long as the girls give their all that's all we can hope for."

Bykal says he'll look to a few older players to lead the way at provincials.

"We have a lot of experience on our team. We have some grade nine's that are up and coming too. Monique Coffey plays a lot for us, Bea Fiola-Johnson plays a lot, Tatyana Jaddock, Sam Baran, these are the older girls that we look up to for leadership for the young girls coming up."

The Clipper girls open up Rural High School Soccer Provincials against the Strathclair Skyhawks at 9:00am Friday morning. If they win they'll go on to play the top ranked Lorette Scorpions, a loss will send Dauphin to the B-side where they'll play at 4:30 Friday evening against a team to be determined.
