The long term future of waste disposal was a major topic at today's council meeting at the RM of Dauphin.
The operations of the current site in Sifton will remain unchanged for now, but Reeve Dennis Forbes says in a few years, they may have a tough decision on their hands.
"The quicker it fills, the quicker we will no longer have a waste disposal site there because with the current environmental rules, we would be very shocked if we were given the go ahead by environment to rebuild or relocate the waste disposal at Sifton when that particular current location is filled."
Forbes says one possibility they might turn to once the Sifton site becomes unusable, is the waste disposal facility used by the Municipality of Gilbert Plains.
