The principal of Smith-Jackson school is hoping a local Ukrainian film festival can become an annual event.
Paul Trochanowski, who is also the vice-president of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress Dauphin and Parklands region, says Kinofilm festival will feature Ukrainian cartoons and three Ukrainian films with English subtitles.
"Anyone can come and enjoy those movies. You don't have to speak the language at all."
Dauphin's KINOfilm fest takes place this Sunday at the DRCSS.
A similar film fest took place in Winnipeg for the second year this past May.
Trochanowski says one of the main reasons they're doing this is kids here aren't necessarily able to attend the Winnipeg festival.
