Both Cenovus Energy and Canadian Natural Resources have evacuated workers from sites threatened by a forest fire in northern Alberta.

The fire that started on Friday covers about 4,000 hectares.

Winnipeg Transit Negotiations

Winnipeg and the union that represents its transit drivers and bus mechanics have reached a tentative agreement.

City officials and representatives with the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1505 sat down negotiated for nearly 11 hours with a conciliator Friday before striking the deal.

The two sides were at odds over wage increases.

The agreement must still be ratified by the union membership and city council.

Wabafiyebazu Plans To Seek Bail

The son of a Canadian diplomat plans to apply for bail on Wednesday.

Fifteen-year-old Marc Wabafiyebazu (wah-bah-fee-yeh-BAH'-zoo) has pleaded not guilty to felony first-degree murder and other charges in a drug-related shootout in March that left his 17-year-old brother Jean dead.

To be successful, the defence will have to convince the judge that the prosecutor does not have enough evidence to prove Wabafiyebazu's guilt, and that he poses neither a danger to the community nor a flight risk.

Border-Crossing Driverless Cars

A grassroots group thinks the idea of unmanned vehicles travelling from Canada to Mexico and back again -- navigating borders without the need for passports, visas or a human presence -- isn't that far-fetched.

Marlo Anderson of the Central North American Trade Corridor Association says the trade corridor for autonomous vehicles would span Route 83, which runs north-south from Texas to North Dakota and continues into Manitoba.

Anderson adds that driverless vehicles would need special security to ensure their navigation systems aren't hacked.
