The president of Manitoba Beef Producers is hoping the next WTO ruling on the Country of Origin Labeling Dispute will finally put an end to the issue.

Heinz Reimer says he hopeful that WTO will rule in Canada's favour as it has in previous rulings on this issue.

"This has been a long battle for many many years and we've already had two rulings in our favour, and every time there seems to be a little glitch where something comes up and the US side retaliates one way or the other. We hope that this will be the final time and the answer is yes and everything's cleared up, but we don't know if that will happen for sure."

Reimer says a ruling in Canada's favour would make it easier for Manitoba cows to be exported to the US.

Reimer says the Manitoba Beef Producers would support the federal governments threats of retaliatory tariffs against the U-S if the american government doesn't comply with the ruling.
