There will be an increased police presence on Manitoba highways starting this long weekend.
The Road Watch campaign launches this weekend where law enforcement officials will be cracking down on impaired drivers with additional roadside checks.
Manitoba Public Insurance spokesman Brian Smiley says this campaign has been highly successful in recent years.
"Nearly 1300 drivers were removed from the Manitoba over the last five years as a result of road watch, 300 alone just last year. We also know that last year Road Watch featured 99 roadside checks resulting in 73,000 vehicles being screened. So you can that they're very busy and it's highly successful."
The campaign runs from this weekend until the end of November.
