March 8 is recognized around the globe as a day for men and women to come together and fight for gender equality.
Parkland Crisis Centre Councillor Jocelyn Maxon says, because of inequality, women experience violence, discrimination, wage-gaps, and oppression at a much greater rate than men.
Due to what the Manitoba Association of Health Care Professionals describes as the "glacial pace of progress", The World Economic Forum says true global gender equality might not be achieved until 2133.
Maxon encourages everyone to be leaders in promoting gender quality in their communities, and believes everyone has the power to make a difference.
