Parkland Rec Complex Open to Public
 
It should be business as usual at the Parkland Rec Complex by late morning after it was closed due to an ammonia leak.
 
The building was evacuated due to the leak on Friday afternoon.
 
Dauphin Rec Services general manager Terry Payne says the pool will be regular hours today and ice surfaces should be ready by late morning, once staff are able to start resurfacing.

PCs Say They Will Ban Spotlight Hunting
 
The Progressive Conservative critic for Conservation and Water Stewardship in Manitoba says his party would will put an end to spotlight hunting in the province if it wins next month's election.

Shannon Martin told the Manitoba Wildlife Federation's annual general meeting in Brandon that hunting at night using a spotlight is dangerous.

Martin says a Tory government will work with stakeholders, including indigenous hunters, to ban the practice and consider increasing resources to the department to enforce existing rules.

The federation has urged the provincial government to ban night hunting with spotlights, saying action needs to be taken before more people are killed.

Former Manitoba MLA Dies
 
Members of Manitoba's Filipino community say a long-serving legislature member paved the way for others to enter politics.

Conrado Santos died last week. He was 81.

Santos represented several Winnipeg constituencies for the NDP from the 1980s through to the 2000s.

Premier Greg Selinger offered his condolences to Santos' family, saying Santos served his adopted province and his constituency with dedication and self-sacrifice.
