A passenger warming shelter is going to be built at Dauphin's train station.

Mayor Eric Irwin told city council on Monday the full cost of the shelter will be between $10,000-15,000.

He also said VIA Rail will provide a small amount of monthly funding to maintain the shelter.

A letter to the City of Dauphin dated January 18 and signed by Agriculture, Food, and Rural Development Minister Ron Kostyshyn and Municipal Government Minister Drew Caldwell says the province will be providing a $10,000 to support the shelter's installation.
