The Canadian Border Services Agency has some tips for travelers who may be crossing the border into Manitoba during the holidays.
CBSA Media Relations Officer Jacquie Callin says in December of last year, they processed over 30 thousand travelers who entered via air through the Winnipeg Airport, and their land crossings saw over 100,000.
"CBSA officers in Southern Manitoba processed 124,230 travelers. These were in 50,894 cars. We also processed 21,474 commercial vehicles and 61 buses."
Callin says if you're bringing any gifts across the border, they ask that they not be wrapped until after crossing the border.
"You must also declare any gifts you've received while outside of Canada to CBSA officers. When you are outside Canada, you can send gifts free of duty and taxes to friends in Canada under certain conditions. You can for more information on that, which is www.cbsa.gc.ca"
