The deadline for a program that provides funding for projects designed to enhance building exteriors and public places in Manitoba rural and northern communities is quickly approaching.

Hometown Manitoba 2016 is offering three categories of grants, including funding for projects along meeting places, businesses along mainstreet, and for tree planting.

Program Administrator Paige McDougall says the Meeting Places grants will give partial funding to businesses, non-profits, and municipalities to upgrade the appearance of local gathering places.

"This may include outdoor spaces associated with parks, community gathering places, senior and youth centres, schools, libraries, churches, museums, public administration buildings and other similar facilities."

More information, including how to apply for grants, can be found by searching Hometown Manitoba 2016 on the Government of Manitoba's website. The deadline to apply is December 15.
