Picketers took to the streets of Dauphin today for what they call the Fair Deal Tour.
The MGEU civil service bargaining committee, along with local MGEU members, met with local MLA Stan Struthers today and picketed in front of his office.
A bargaining update was then provided for members at Dauphin's Provincial Building.
The Manitoba Government and General Employees Union says their members have got the short end of the stick when it comes to new contracts, compared to other organizations.
MGEU president Michelle Gawronsky says for the years they're asking for, other groups are enjoying a higher percantage of an increase.
"Our members feel that they're being very disrespected and undervalued when they are not given the same consideration in the percentage rate."
The MGEU has been without a contract for about a year and a half. The province has offered a one per cent increase each year for two years, followed by two per cent for each of the next two years.
The MGEU has nearly six thousand signatures online, and hopes the public support will help them in negotiations.
MGEU Bargaining Committee chair Wayne Chacun says he's optimistic their members will be heard.
This is day three of the MGEU Fair Deal Tour. It will be in Swan River and The Pas tomorrow, and head to Thompson on Friday.
