Food Matters Manitoba is encouraging people to reflect on the role food plays in their own lives and in their communities.

Today is World Food Day.

Food Matters Manitoba acting executive director Stefan Epp-Koop says lots of Manitobans have access to good food but not all.

"I think it's important that all Manitobans are aware that there are many Manitobans on this World Food Day who struggle to access the good food that they need, and that's a particular challenge in northern Manitoba. But I think it's something that we see in every community in the province."

Epp-Koop says one of the key challenges in northern Manitoba is the price of food. He says one way people can access good food is by growing their own in their community.
