The City of Dauphin is being provided up to $150,000 from the Manitoba Water Services Board for a study of the city's sanitary system.
Public works director Bill Brenner says the study will take a look what things the city could do with the system in the future.

"We've hired engineering consultants who are doing a study of our existing sanitary system and creating a model that models our system so that we can identify any problems with our existing system, and that we can use to expand the system going forward."

Brenner says they're also looking at making some changes to their lagoon as part of this project.

"We're looking at actually once this is complete actually adding on to our sanitary system in a couple of places in the city. They're also doing an environmental act proposal to make changes to our lagoon. This may be increasing the size or changing the processes or whatever we need to do to provide for future expansion or our city."

Brenner says the study is to be completed before the end of the year, with the hopes of starting some work on the system next year.
