Woman Found In Red River Dies In Hospital
 
Police in Winnipeg say they have identified a woman who died after being pulled from the Red River.

Investigators haven't determined how she died, and they say an autopsy is planned.

The woman was spotted in the water near the Louise Bridge on Friday morning.

She was taken to hospital in critical condition but did not survive.

Brandon And Province Join Forces For Rental Housing Initiative
 
The Manitoba government and officials in Brandon have teamed up to supply grants that will turn vacant space over businesses into homes.
 
Municipal Government Minister Drew Caldwell says the Upper Storey Residential Development Initiative will provide much-needed rental space.

Caldwell says it will also help business and property owners maximize the use of their historic buildings.

Brandon has the lowest rental housing vacancy rate in Manitoba at 1.1 per cent, according to recent numbers from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.

Ducks Unlimited In Sask Calls For Wetlands Strategy
 
The Saskatchewan chapter of Ducks Unlimited Canada says if wetlands need to be destroyed for development, there should be protocols for their replacement.

The organization is asking the province for a mitigation strategy to go along with responsible drainage regulations for agricultural land which were announced over the summer.

Spokesperson Michael Champion says Alberta already has a working mitigation model and Manitoba is working on the issue, so he says it's something Saskatchewan should also be thinking about.

The next total eclipse won't happen until 2018, and the next total eclipse of a supermoon isn't until 2033.
