Dion Manastyrski grew up on a farm in Saskatchewan.

He says the reason he made the book is he felt the subject had to be captured or it was gone.

"When I left after high school, I moved away to Red Deer and now I live in Victoria. Each time I'd come back and visit I was alarmed at how many of our neighbours had moved out and nobody was living in those homes. And our home is now abandoned, as well as many others in the area."

70 people were interviewed for Prairie Sunset: A Story of Change, and it contains more than 100 photos from the author and 50 photos from archives.

Manastyrski gave slide show presentations about the book yesterday and today in Dauphin.
